Faith, Reason, Courage, Death

A perspective...worshippers of the fierce Goddess Kali believe that fear, terror and danger do not come alone. That they always come along with Kali's protective shade. But often, the human is unable to feel her love and protection because his mind is frozen in fear and terror.

In such times, deep faith is necessary that one is not unprotected.

Part 2: Reason
"The unexamined life is not worth living." - Socrates.

We always examine every paper document that comes our way. We don't assume that these papers are perfect and factual.

Same way we should not assume that 'thought documents', which include memories, are 100% true and factual. Because such an assumption would mean we are giving the mind omnipotent, God like status.

Whether we consider the psychological self ("I") to have been born from the mind, or whether we consider the "I" to have existed prior to the mind, or whether we question its very ontology - in all cases - there is a transcendental agency within us, that has the ability to view the mind from a distance, and question it, reject it whenever required. This agency must be nurtured.

Example of this transcendental agency in action - a quote by Swami Vivekananda - "Every thought that strengthens you must be taken up, and every thought that weakens you must be rejected"

"Your worst fears have never come true. And even if they have - you're still here. Present. Alive. Breathing. In this moment, life is brand new. What you are cannot be destroyed." - Jeff Foster

The Birth Of Memory

If you look carefully, you'll see memory being born.

If you look carefully, you'll see memory lose credibility, right in front of your eyes.

Your memory should technically emanate from YOU. Do these memories that tell you what your past is, do these memories emanate from you? Do they sound like you thinking? Are they consistent with your personality?

There are a lot of things you don't know. Do not draw conclusions. Especially the negative ones. Your worst fears cannot come true. The world is not omnipotent. You are not omni-powerless.

You take a tiny segment out of their behaviour, and then say this is who he is. Often your fear gives them omnipotent status in your mind. This is utter delusion. Nothing could be further from the truth, if you look carefully. Nothing to worry about. Just involve yourself in things that will help you reduce fear. This is all you have to do.

When the time comes, true knowledge and sufficient protection will emerge from the surroundings. On its own. It has happened before. It will happen again.

Meditation With Mooji

Don't give any attention to thoughts, even if they appear important. Stay peaceful, and the thoughts will become impotent.

Thoughts will continue to try and sabotage your peace, as you watch.

They will give little messages to sabotage your seeing.

Watch their antics. Their threats. Their temptations, their fears, their sense of urgency, their monkey nature.

Their stories are impersonal and go nowhere. Through peaceful watching you will realise this.

"Life is big enough, to take all our mistakes, all our adventures. You can't outlarge life."

"Mind is trapped in the illusion that it should feel happy"

By Y V Chawla.

Psychological hurt is psychological discomfort. Absorbing this discomfort without any explanation opens the door to the secret of Existence.

The error has taken over the present mind that it should feel happy, stay pleased, stay relieved all the time as if feeling of confusion, fear, any uneasy feeling does not belong to it. If you notice this insistence of the mind, it drops- the Original energy touches you. You are attuned to supreme relaxation with unending friction to operate.

When you allow your feelings (fear, confusion, anxiety) as they are, your imagination becomes clear, what you want becomes clear. We are carried away as if thinking can change or undo any feeling.

‘I do not want to be angry’. ‘I want to be free from fear’. ‘I want to be happy’. And so on. The words create an alienation as if there is a separate entity to reject or retain. Can you notice this? This noticing is the concentration of total energy.

We are enamoured as if pleasure, relief, feeling good are independent experiences as if they can stay or stabilize. Pleasure, relief, feeling good is dependent upon, is essentially experienced against pain, stress, some uneasy feeling. Once one notices the connection-pleasure, relief, feeling good are not registered in the brain as something stable. The touch of the Original happens.

We want to rest through the relief, pleasure offered by entertainment, intoxications, addition to possessions, relations, holidays against the compulsion of work. Mind registers this relief, is inclined as if this part (entertainment and so on) is actual life. We forget that this pleasure, relief is dependent upon, is because of compulsion experienced at work. Once we see the connection, the fused state takes over.

Dealing With A Crisis

Crises often come from many directions simultaneously. And tend to overwhelm.

This post will not try to solve your crises. But yes, it will remind you that crises do get over, and when they do, they don't look that dangerous in hindsight.

When the crisis is looming, it appears menacing. Larger than life. Larger than the living force that sustains us. Which it cannot be.

A lot of speculation exists on the true nature of a crisis. Some would compare it to childbirth. To metamorphosis.

We'll leave such speculation aside. And come straight to how to deal with it, how to cut it down to size.

We need to focus on the emotions underlying the painful stories forming in the mind.

Transcend the stories. Focus on emotions associated with the stories. Feel them. The burden may lighten. Perhaps the crises are not as bad as you thought?

The mind, when in a state of panic, thinks only of the worst case scenario. Over and over.

Living a life in which one is moving from one worst case scenario to another is a low quality life.

So the painful stories have to be transcended. And painful emotions have to be addressed.

Life can become easier. More breathing space can result.

Trust life. Be broad minded. Don't assume that the worst case scenario will unfold for you. That is a wrong approach to life. Life is huge. It can absorb our mistakes.

Mistakes mixed with fear push our mind into assuming that the worst case scenario will unfold for us.

And even if the worst case scenarios start unfolding for you, because of the mistakes you have made, so what? YOU ARE LARGER THAN THE FULL HIT OF ALL THE WORST CASE SCENARIOS YOU CAN IMAGINE.

There is no way one can do anything in life without making mistakes. Mistakes happen all the time...because life does not come with an instruction manual. Yet life goes on. Millions of people live, prosper, thrive.

“Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody’s ever made before,” - Neil Gaiman

"The chief trick to making good mistakes is not to hide them — especially not from yourself.
Instead of turning away in denial when you make a mistake, you should become a connoisseur of your own mistakes, turning them over in your mind as if they were works of art, which in a way they are." …….. -Daniel Dennett

A negative person has endless confidence in negative outcomes. Looks upon positive things as temporary, deceptive, traps, etc.
