Formless

Introduction:

This poem on formless life is not based on any religious texts. It is pure mysticism.

There are many religions/movements out there like advaita (a branch of hinduism), Buddhism, Judiasm etc. (too many to name) that endorse 'formless life' concepts. I am neither for nor against such religions.

It's based on my personal 'feeling realisations'.

'Feeling realisations' is a phrase coined by spiritual teacher Eckhart Tolle (a mystic who is not aligned to any religion or path).

Feeling realisations are pointers. To the mysteries of the cosmos...

"FORMLESS"

Part I

My arms are mine
but my arms are not me

My legs are mine
but my legs are not me

My eyes are mine
but my eyes are not me

My body is mine
but my body is not me

I live in my body...
but my body is not me...

I was
I am
I will always be...
FORMLESS

_____________

Part II

Where are you?
In your eyes?
In your hands?
In your arms?
In your legs?
Where do you live, in your body?

If you were not in your hands, your hands would not be alive.
If you were not in your legs, your legs would not be alive.
If you were not in your eyes, your eyes would not be alive.
You are everywhere in your body.

You
the one who sees through your eyes

You are...

"Jains respond that the jiva cannot be localized in any part of an object but permeates it entirely, just as the light from a lamp fills a room" - Jainism by Ron Huntington.

very well made point vikram.. we cannot be but one thing,, as we are everything... and yet,, in some ways at the same time nothing... so many questions... so few answers....

Ironically, I am haunted nowadays by the thought that my soul belongs to an ancient tree rather than my body. Your words enhance my perception ... I intend though to make the most of my physical existence, but it feels terrible at times when you are helpless, your body becomes a cage ... a prison!

I think this poem is beautiful. It fits perfectly into my concept of life, which is also Christian.
Good Work !

I think your poem is fantastic, exactly the way I see life. Yes, we are formless, we do live in our bodies, these are our homes.
I'd like to add that we don't die, only leave our 'homes'.

Hi Vikram...

LOVELY!

In addition to the truth of your thoughts, the simplicity amazes me.

I think your gift is to take the truth, the essence of what is, and distill it into a form understood in its purity.

So often I hear truth taught in such a way that is almost becomes more muddled or complicated when in my mind truth is more like a ray of sunshine not a thundercloud. :-)

Nice work Vikram!
Blessings and hugs,

Jen
