The Shadow Self

Tantric truths are seldom easy to handle. The tantric path is not a comfortable, easy path. It entails a total disintegration of what you THINK. Your perspectives, beliefs, conclusions, self image. Et al.

Progress happens through DESTRUCTION or the illusion of it.

Passage from Kundalini-Teacher.Com

PART 1

Carl Jung defined the Shadow Self as "that which we think we are not."

...You may believe that you are not like your neighbor who does this or that bad thing, but if those negative qualities you judge, were not also a part of you, then they would not trigger your emotions...

You may believe that you are a person who is not cruel or unjust, but that belief is a blockage that casts a shadow that can blind you to the cruelty within your ego that is hidden. The shadow shows the "Ugly Mirror of All that Is": you are what you judge yourself not to be. You are what you judge others to be....

PART 2

Passage from: SHADOW DANCE

The Shadow

The Shadow, is a psychological term introduced by the late Swiss psychiatrist, Dr. Carl G. Jung. It is everything in us that is unconscious, repressed, undeveloped and denied. These are dark rejected aspects of our being as well as light, so there is positive undeveloped potential in the Shadow that we don’t know about because anything that is unconscious, we don’t know about.

The Shadow is an archetype. And what an archetype simply means is that it is typical in consciousness for everyone. Everyone has a Shadow. This is not something that one or two people have. We all have a Shadow and a confrontation with the Shadow is essential for self awareness. We cannot learn about ourselves if we do not learn about our Shadow so therefore we are going to attract it through the mirrors of other people.

Projection and Denial

Projection is an unconscious psychological mechanism. We all project onto other people parts of ourselves that we disown, that we deny. We will usually not identify with the projected quality or characteristic at all. It’s them. It’s not us.

We will feel highly uncomfortable when we are around someone that is carrying a part of our Shadow. As I said before, and it bears repeating, there will often be a repulsive element to it. We will be repulsed by that person and whatever they stand for. It will feel like whoever they are is totally against our principles, moral values and ideals and we will be highly critical of their actions or way of being in the world.

The Infinite Microcosm & True Nature of Reality

Summary: The microcosm is an infinitely deep non-mathematical ocean. The sub-atomic level as we know it barely scrapes the surface.

The Mathematical Map

Consider the equation Force = Mass X Acceleration.

Is it what is actually happening in reality?

Or is it just a mathematical description of what's happening, using references, concepts, terms, that we find convenient?

This equation is just a map of reality. It maps a certain natural process, that, in itself is *not* mathematical.

Nature does not flow in terms of numbers. Nature does not calculate the weight and chemical composition of a rock before creating it.

Nature did not precalculate/predecide the voltage range of lightening, or the pH level of the dead sea or any sea for that matter. Nor did it calculate the mass of the sun and the planets before creating the solar system.

Nature flows in a smooth, continuous, non mathematical flow. Like a song. The mathematical map of a song, in terms of numbers, amplitudes, frequencies...is that a complete expression/representation of the song?
_______________________________

Nature has no 'mechanism'. It is not a machine that runs logically and mathematically.

Building a mathematical model of a process, extrapolating it, and expecting the process to manifest in the same manner or manner similar to your extrapolation can never lead to correct results. Because nature does not 'extrapolate itself mathematically'. We think it is this way because we confuse the map with the territory.

Mathematics, no matter how evolved, no matter how refined....will always remain just a map.

A fractal mathematical map of corals(below)...can never 'predict' how a 'real coral' will manifest next. For the abovementioned reasons.

The Infinite Microcosm

The GAP between the scientific map of nature and the actual flow of nature can never go away because the microcosm is infinitely deep AND because the microcosm/macrocosm is not mathematical.

The cosmos will throw our way deeper and deeper mysteries, even if mankind survives a billion trillion years without forgetting its knowledge.

We can 'see' things at the nano level (10-9m) using existing technology.

I do not agree that it is impossible to see below 10-35m...i.e. Planck Length.

The day we see at 10 X nano level (10-90m), we'll see newer things.

The day we 'see' at 100 X Nano level (10-900m) we'll see newer things.

There would certainly be things going on at 1000 X Nano level (10-9000m).

And the 100,000 X Nano level (10-900000m).....Ad Infinitum.

As we dive deeper and deeper into the microcosm....the complexity and the richness will keep on INCREASING. This conclusion of mine is based on my understanding of the "FRACTAL GEOMETRY OF NATURE".

And...assuming that the things we see at the 100,000 X Nano level (10-900000m) will be a repetition of the things we have seen at the nano level (10-9m).....this assumption would not be a wise assumption.

Electrons, protons, neutrons...these mathematical maps just barely scrape the surface of the infinite microcosm.

These concepts 'electrons, protons, neutrons' could approximate certain formations on the sub atomic scale, but these sub atomic formations are not the end of it. Nothing 'fundamental' about them.

The microcosm cannot be anything but infinitely deep.

The cosmos was, is, and will remain...forever mystical.

The Expression of Healing...

I'm back, after a long gap of 6 months...will update once a week, at least, from now on.
________________

Was discussing the frightful level of loneliness and lack of authenticity in human life with a friend.

There is a severe lack of substance in human interactions. Which leads to a host of problems for EVERYONE.

Too much polite conversation is bad for health. Lack of proper expression of how one feels leads to a severely restricted flow of life within us...

We often think we can express ourselves to a "REAL" friend...but years of repression and polite, careful conversation turns into a habit. We are unable to express. And if we do succeed in expressing things to a friend, it leaves us feeling afraid, vulnerable...
________________

So what is the answer? The answer lies in finding a channel for expressing SORROW...

The basic concept:

Fundamental to healing is catharsis. Slow or fast. It does not matter. As long as the catharsis happens.

Expression of sorrow is catharsis. All the emotions that the body has repressed, if they start flowing again, it leads to health.

So crying is actually a GOOD thing.
______________

Through pain and tears, strength and life appear...and nothing heals like the graceful expression of sorrow...
